It has been crazy this summer with the death of a brother-in-law, selling our house, and putting the finish touches on my first book, "The Great Promise".
Earlier in the summer I sent a digital copy of my grandfather's journal to the Imperial War Museum in London. The Document and Sound department sent me an email telling me that after they reviewed the documents they found that the journal entries were detailed and of significant historical importance because they described the early years of the war before it turned into trench warfare. After receiving the email I felt that I contributed to history while creating a tribute to my grandfather.
I'm excited to report that after years of researching I was able to partially keep the promise my grandfather made with three of his fellow soldiers; I found the distant relative of George (Percy) Bramwell. I designed "The Great Promise" to use all of the journal entries to tell both the personal side of many of the early battles of the war and inform the reader of the deaths of two of the chums.
I urge everyone interested in the history of World War One to pickup a copy of "The Great Promise". I'm self publishing the book and it should be available in the early part of 2012. I'll keep everyone posted on its progress.
I want to give special recognition to the members of "The Great War Form" for all the support and help they provided during my research.
